According to the news as reported by the New Straits Times dated 2 February 2021, the Minister of Human Resources, YB Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said that the Ministry will not allow any non-compliant employers to renew their foreign workers permit when they expire if they do not send their workers for the Covid-19 screening, by the end of February 2021.

He said that it is a requirement for all employers to follow the government’s directive as stated under Section 11 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

He also reminded employers that the cost of screening incurred in 2021 is entitled to double tax deduction.
